What Are the Grill Gun and Su-V Gun?
While these grill guns are the perfect testosterone-inducing accessory, they do need to be handled with extreme caution and care. Used safely, they are more fun than we should be allowed to have!
GrillGun – (My Review / Buy Here) A High powered propane torch designed to light Charcoal and Wood grills and smokers. The Grill Gun has a long barrel that is primarily intended for lighting your grill. Use a GrillGun to start your charcoal grill and be cooking over charcoal with the aromatic experience, taste, and health benefits associated with cooking over natural wood, more quickly than you could be if you were cooking on a gas grill
Su-VGun (My Review / Buy Here) The High-powered propane torch, designed to sear your meat faster and better than any other searing torch available. The Su-V gun has a shorter barrel and is best used for meat that has been smoked or cooked sous vide for a reverse sear. This gun acts as a searing tool to brown the outside of perfectly cooked meat. Of course, I used it to cook an entire steak and it turned out really good! Don’t worry if you don’t cook sous vide – Su-V is a marketing name and doesn’t mean you can’t use this tool as a part of your grilling regimen.
The two grill guns are similar products but are meant for different purposes. I keep both in my grilling arsenal.
What Meats Should I Sear with A Su-V Gun?
Don’t use it on Tofu! But if it’s meat and it needs a sear, fire up that flamethrower! I love to use the Su-V gun for a rich ribeye steak or rack of lamb. You get a nice hard char on the outside while the inside stays perfectly cooked. The flame is easy to control when using the Su-V gun making it optimal for browning the outside of a beautiful piece of meat.
